Touching the Void
Dir: Kevin Macdonald, 2003 (7*)
Best British Picture (British A.A.)
A harrowing film, excrutiating to watch, that re-enacts a true mountaineering accident in the Peruvian Andes, and won a British academy award for best British film. The first half is gripping and superb, the last half a bit slow-paced and overdone, hence only 8 of 10 stars, but definitely an experience you will never forget, and not for the squeamish.
